These days I can't seem to open any social media app or site without being bombarded with Korean music, food, dramas and makeup. I feel socially relevant, simply by virtue of my ethnicity. The popularity of K-dramas has impacted the consumption of Korean food, music and cosmetics. In fact, the CEO of Netflix recently revealed that 60% of their members have watched K-content and that viewership has risen globally sixfold in the last several years. These dramas are quite blatant at times in their sponsorship of fast food chains, the latest gadgets and cosmetics, so no wonder non-Korean viewers are becoming more aware of what's available on the Korean market. I think this is especially true of cosmetics and skincare. Korea has a long history in skincare and it's steeped in culture and traditional medicine. I really appreciate the marriage of traditional ingredients and scientific innovation that many Korean skincare companies now espouse. One of my favorites is the Incellderm line by Riman. They have captured the quintessential Korean approach to skincare while incorporating scientific technology and ingredients that meet the needs of modern life.
